Roofing Systems

As roofing experts, Krueger Sheet Metal specializes in a wide range of systems from metal to membrane. Below we have listed a variety of the products we are approved to install, and the manufacturers who make them.

Built-Up Roofs

Built-up roofs (BUR) are installed by laying layers of ply sheet in asphalt or bitumen. The use of more layers translates into a more durable, longer lasting roof system. BURs are known for being some of the toughest roof systems in the business. They also have great resistance to wind upheaval, and can be easily and effectively repaired.

Modified Bitumen Roofs

Mod-Bit roofs are a form of BURs. The asphalt is the modified component, giving the roof system increased characteristics of durability and longevity. These systems are adhered to the roof in 3 different ways: hot asphalt, cold adhesive, torch down, or a mixture of the three. These systems are the toughest in the business, and can be coated with several different finishes to increase protection against traffic and UV light damage.

Garden Roofs

Also known as vegetative or "green" roofs, these roof systems consist of a waterproofing element, very similar to BURs, followed by soil and a variety of different vegetative layers. These roof systems are simultaneously beneficial to the owner and environment. Increased vegetation reduces a building's carbon footprint, reducing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Further, the addition of soil and vegetation to the roof system increases the R-value of the roof, reducing a building's energy requirement, and in effect, it's carbon footprint and operating costs. On top of being environmentally friendly, garden roofs can give any building a great aesthetic.

Single Ply Roof Systems

EPDM

EPDM is a cheaper alternative to the systems listed above. It consists of a flexible rubber sheet that can be mechanically fastened or fully adhered to a building. The seams are then made watertight through the use of adhesives and tapes. The sheet can vary in thickness and reinforcement, increasing or decreasing its life expectancy.

TPO

TPO is also a reinforced flexible rubber sheet. It has the option of being fully adhered or mechanically fastened, and is heat welded at the seams. This gives the roof a level of continuity, increasing its resistant to leaks.

PVC

PVC is another heat-welded system. Like TPO, it is part of the thermoplastic family, and is especially resistance to certain chemicals and contaminates. It is also a notably strong sheet and is very resistance to physical stresses.

Waterproofing Systems

Krueger can waterproof a large range of surfaces, preparing them for a variety of applications: pavers, vegetative roofs, planters, topping slabs, and many other landscaping materials. We're happy to organize and perform rigorous water tests to insure that your deck is watertight before you cover it up. We're approved to install several different manufacturers' products, whether it is a cold or hot fluid applied system.
